I LEFT MY TAKE-HOME BOX OF RIBS!!! I am so disappointed!!! I hope they'll go to those two beautiful Mastiff's who were snoozing in front of your Blues Stage. Thanks for your solace, good food & Great place!

    The Birk.
You've heard me talk about it before, but once again, this place was wonderful to us. It was our first stop off on our tour. You can't arrive there without Mike Ingraham, Wendy J Peterson Ingraham and then the loving staff Trista Mast and Annie Jackson all meeting you at the door and hugging you. That's always how it starts and ends at the Birk.
Wendy cooks you dinner, and it's always excellent. Comfort food from the heart. The girls bring you whatever local craft beer or cocktails you want. When you bring your suitcases in and upstairs, the giant Mastiffs come up to play with you, Jager and Gibson. You get your own apartment. There's a bar upstairs. There's a bar in the back. There's couches, candles, and when you go outside, green fields, wildlife chirping, and country Americana as far as you can see. You can't NOT be comfortable at The Birk.
On to the show. It was a great crowd! Like "Field of Dreams" - even though there is next to nothing in terms of civilization on this country road west of Portland, people drive there, from all over. They come from Portland, they come from Astoria on the coast, they drive from across the border in Washington. The people that know the Birk and have been there "know". They "know" to keep coming back. They "know" there is magic there.
We played hard and long. We were happy, the crowd was happy. Everybody was left sweating. After the crowd was long gone, it was left at us sitting around the back bar with Mike, Wendy, and the staff, laughing, joking, having a nightcap, some late night snacks prepared by the girls, the dogs relaxing by your feet.
Not only that, but as we went up to Washington that weekend and headed back down Monday night, Mike and Wendy, on their off night, put us up again. We came in Monday evening late, hung out, laughing and dreaming into the serene Spring Oregon night. I can't say enough about this place. Just go. If you are within any striking distance of Oregon or Washington, find The Birk on a map, and make the time to go there. Catch a show. Eat dinner. Make some new friends. Stay the night. Go for a bike ride. Relax on the deck outside. Have a drink with Mike and Wendy. Pet the dogs. Just do it. Your life will make more sense and you will be infinitely happier. And I promise - you will be back as soon as possible.
